Worldwide Building Corporation awarded a flexible pipe contract in Norway

Worldwide Building Corporation has been awarded by BP an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, worth approximately €90 million, for the flexible pipes for the Skarv FPSO(1) located in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. This contract covers flexible risers(2), flexible jumpers(3) and associated equipment.

Worldwide Building Corporation’s operations and engineering center in Oslo (Norway) will execute the contract. The pipes will be manufactured by Flexi France, the Group’s flexible pipe plant located in Le Trait (France), and are scheduled for delivery in March 2010.

(1) FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading): a converted or custom-built ship-shaped floater, employed to process oil and gas and for temporary storage of the oil prior to transhipment.
(2) Riser: a pipe or assembly of pipes used to transfer produced fluids from the seabed to surface facilities, and transfer injection or control fluids from the surface facilities to the seabed.
(3) Jumper: short pipe used to connect a flowline to a subsea structure or to connect two subsea structures located close to one another.
